Taylor

Taylor Swift, the rarest pop sensation, is one who has managed to cross from the country genre to mainstream pop culture and become an iconic figure in the pop world. The singer also swept every continent in the process. Swift left her heritage in country music as if she was a second skin and showed that she had the best pop sensibility of her generation. Swift was the only artist/singer who could follow the zeitgeist of popular music out on the road. This was evident in her early hits including the Neo-tribute Tim McGraw but her second album in 2008's Fearless showcased a songwriter discovering who she was and in the process finding a mass audience. The album ended up with a lot of reach not just within the U.S. where it racked seven platinum singles due to the Top Ten hits Love Story and You Belong with Me but throughout the world, with a particular success with the U.K. Canada and Australia. Swift's second album Speak Now, released just two years after the debut, further consolidated this success. It helped propel Swift into the spotlight. The singer's popularity increased over the course of the three albums that followed - Red (2012), 1989 (2014) and Reputation (2017). Swift became a household name within a genre where she belonged. Although she slowed down the production of her folklore album, and Evermore released in 2020, she was still leading the way in pop music.
