born on January. 19 1946 on the 19th of January 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn into a struggling family that would one day have 12 children. Dolly Parton learned early to get away from the challenges of life thanks to her expansive and imaginative imagination. Her songs were written before she could write or read. Within 8 years she was playing her first guitar. As a teenager when she was 11, she began singing on Knoxville Tenn's radio station. It was around this time that Porter Wagoner was looking for the next girl to perform on his television show that was syndicated. Parton was hired in 1967 she signed with RCA Records by 1968, she joined the Grand Ole Opry. She left Wagoner's show, however, in 1974 due to her solo albums such as Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene exceeded the sales of their joint albums.
